The below article is to be used if you are having technical difficulties when using the Bulk Upload feature to invite participants as per the following Helpdesk article: Invite Respondents to your Interview.
Please use the below steps to troubleshoot the error you are experiencing.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
File Format:
The required file format for the upload feature is a .CSV file. In Microsoft Excel, the specific format is labelled as: CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv)
If you have created your own file to upload, please ensure that the file type is saved correctly. If you have downloaded the template that is available from the Vieple platform as per the image below, then this will already be in the correct format.

CSV Error:
The below CSV Error occurs when the upload recognises that certain candidate's detail(s) cannot be included. The system will prompt you to make a change to the required field(s) in order to upload all candidates. You may also proceed to upload the CSV file without the candidate that is causing the error.
In the below example, the Last Name field cannot include the full stop character, as such "S.ample" as a last name is invalid and will need to be changed before proceeding.

Error Message - "We're sorry, but something went wrong."
If you are uploading your candidate file but received the following error message, please check through the table below. The issue will be due to specific rows in the file containing characters that are not recognised by the upload feature.
These can sometimes occur when downloading or converting participant lists from other ATS', Excel file conversions or when copying and pasting from other table sources.
![]() Example of error message received |
No spaces after any of the participants details. As per the image, there is a space after the participant's first name. To locate if there are any in the candidate's fields, you can do a search (Ctrl + F) and do a 'Find All' for spaces | ![]() |
No Specialised Characters in First Name or Last Name. As per the image, this participant has a specialised ’ character in their last name. This differs to the standard ' character. Other examples also include accented letters such as é or ā. To resolve, locate the specialised character and replace with the standardised version of the letter or punctuation. | ![]() |
Once you have fixed the above, please try uploading the file again.
If the issue persists, you can forward through the file to support@vieple.com for assistance.
